Hello, my name is [Helen Aristar-Dry]! MY VITALS-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Home town: Location: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MORE ABOUT ME... I joined this wiki because: I think the biggest challenge facing linguistics today is to create a cyberinfrastructure which promotes data-sharing and collaborative work. Interests: I am a Professor of Linguistics at Eastern Michigan University, where I teach text analysis and language technology. I am a co-moderator of The LINGUIST List, co-Director of the Institute of Language Information and Technology, and Principal Investigator on several projects focused on the digital documentation of endangered languages and the creation of Internet infrastructure for linguistics. These include E-MELD (http://emeld.org), LL-MAP (http://llmap.org), and MultiTree (http://linguistlist.org/multitree/). I am the editor (with John Lawler) of Using Computers in Linguistics: A Practical Guide and editor (with Richard Meier) of a Time, Text, and Context, a volume of the papers of Carlota S. Smith. And a bit from the wiki template: My superpower is: ability to answer three questions at once. If I could live anywhere, it would be: northern California My dream job(s): running LINGUIST List -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SAY HELLO!
