"Tangibles"

List of "tangibles" that we're charged with producing:
  1. well-organized beginnings of a (set of) wiki page(s) on Annotation Standards that can become the "white paper" that is the "snapshot" of the wiki on August 15
  2. Interim Report to present to the other groups in the 9:00-9:45 period on Saturday
  3. final Report for the public in our slot of the 2:00-4:00 Open Panel on Sunday.


Working Session I -- Friday afternoon
  1. start by deciding
    1. who will take general notes for each working session
    2. who will be in charge of each of the two reports
  2. go quickly through the sections we've set up already, brainstorming about the material that needs to go in each in order to ...
  3. figure out if there are any sections that need to be collapsed or divided or added (and also whether some of the sections should be separated off as independent pages that are linked into the primary page for our group), and then ...
  4. decide who will bear primary responsibility for each section of the wiki page(s)
  5. collate notes into our interim report, focusing on identifying issues where we need input from (or want to make requests to) any of the other Working Groups

Working Session 2 -- Saturday morning
  1. Quickly review where we are in terms of our overall agenda and whether anything needs to be added or changed in response either to the discussion at the Sharing data panel last night or to the interim report of another group.
  2. Review current outline of main wiki page and see if any of it needs to be reorganized (cf item 3 from yesterday) and then ...
  3. Temporarily divide up the page into sub pages so that we can work on writing sections in groups of two without everyone trying to edit the same page (cf item 4 from yesterday).

Working Session 3 -- Saturday afternoon
  1. Add discussion point to WG3 page about how tools intersect.
  2. Review where we are in terms of our overall agenda by subgroups reporting back on progress on their parts, to get feedback on sticky parts.
  3. At same time, see if anything needs to be added or changed in response to the discussion at the Computational methods panel.
  4. Continue working on subsections until 5:15, when we should stop to ...

  1. see if anything needs to be added or changed in response to reactions to interim report 2, etc.
  2. add other sets of annotation types, e.g., from machine translation
  3. talk about the tension between codifying annotations in order to annotate a large body of data versus doing the annotations in order to have a basis for beginning to codify
  4. reorganize so that example standards and description of comes before the list
  5. agree on set of "needed standards" to describe in the last section
  6. parcel out the work of finishing the "white paper" version until 11:30, when we should stop to ...
