From a brief survey of the nanoHub site, it seems that it could be a model for teaching and learning, but doesn't exhibit any features for our first goal of a cyberinfrastructure to "facilitate both the creation and sharing of data, where one linguist's analysis becomes the next linguist's data." Several universities have setup their entire curriculum in order to be part of this composite educational resource on nanoelectronics and nanomechanics, though any actual data in this field is absent.

The barrier to entry vs. value added dimension of this site is the amount of meta data the user can add that allows their resource to fully utilized nanoHub's features. For example by filling out reference information for your resource not only does the resulting page display how to cite the resource, but also generates both a BibTek and EndNote files.

The degree to which nanoHub organizes its data is fairly high. There's a rich categorical taxonomy of nanoHub's resources that allow's the user to easily browse or pinpoint a specific area of the site. NanoHub has also implemented a tagging system where resources can be arbitrarily categorized and associated with one another based on the editor's selected tags. These tags allow the user to jump from one resource to another based on similar taggings.

Its difficult to extract features from the nanoHub site that may provide inspiration for our own linguistic cyberinfrastructure due nanoHub's non-focus on data sharing and analysis. Though its organizational structure and wealth of meta data could possibly be used as a model.

Good: Cyberinfrastructure for educational materials, relates to how we could educate the workforce.
